Samples
English to Bangla voice translation is mostly short, practical text: a train or delivery update, a request to a shop, a note for a parent who reads Bangla. A translation in colloquial চলিত Bangla sounds like a person talking, where a word-for-word rendering often sounds like a government form.

Written Bangla once had two standards: সাধু ভাষা, the older literary form with long verb endings such as করিতেছি, and চলিত ভাষা, the colloquial standard with করছি. Newspapers, schoolbooks and almost all writing today use চলিত, but formal notices still reach for heavy words such as অনুগ্রহপূর্বক where a person would just say একটু.
Bangla in Bangladesh and in West Bengal also differs in everyday words: পানি and জল for water, গোসল and স্নান for a bath, দাওয়াত and নিমন্ত্রণ for an invitation. Vyas writes standard চলিত Bangla with আপনি for the listener. If your listeners are on one side of the border, change those words in the translation box before you play it.
Bangla verbs do not change with the speaker's gender: আমি আসছি (I am coming) is the same for anyone, so a Bangla translation rarely needs rephrasing to suit both male and female voices. The choice that matters more is আপনি, তুমি or তুই for the listener; Vyas uses the polite আপনি.

How it works
Vyas, the Sonex Labs language model, turns your English into everyday spoken Bangla, and is asked to write numbers and times as words so they are read naturally and to keep the speaker's gender unmarked, so any voice can read the result. The same model is available through an OpenAI-compatible API.
Pāṇini, the Sonex Labs text-to-speech model, reads the Bangla translation live in the voice you pick; nothing on this page is pre-recorded. To turn longer Bangla scripts into audio, or to hear more Bangla voices, use the Bangla text-to-speech page.
FAQ
Yes, on this page. Translate up to 220 characters of English at a time and play the Bangla result, with no account; very heavy use from one connection is asked to sign up. Signing up is free and gives 10,000 text-to-speech characters and one voice clone, no card required. To build translation into your own app, Vyas costs $0.30 per million input tokens and $0.60 per million output tokens. Pāṇini costs $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.
Yes, once you sign up (free). The player on this page plays audio in the browser only. After sign-up, the API returns Bangla audio as MP3 when you set "output_format": "mp3", and the dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file.
Not yet. The translator takes typed or pasted text only, up to 220 characters at a time.
Vyas is suited to short, everyday sentences like the samples on this page, but its translation quality has not been measured on a public benchmark, and like any machine translation it can get names, idioms and tone wrong. The translation box is editable, so fix anything before you play it, and have a native Bangla speaker check anything medical, legal or financial.
The player offers three voices, starting with Nupur, a native Bangla voice. Any Sonex Labs voice can read Bangla and keeps its own accent. After sign-up you can also clone a voice from a 10-second recording and use it for Bangla.
