Pacing a Short
Hook in two seconds, done in under a minute
Shorts are watched on a phone with a thumb ready to swipe. At the Hindi rate we measured, two seconds is about 30 characters and a minute is about 940, so the whole script is shorter than most people expect.
- Hook in the first 30 characters. Five or six words that name a problem or promise a payoff: "रुको, scroll मत करो।" End the hook with a full stop or question mark so the voice pauses.
- Aim for 30 to 60 seconds. About 470 to 940 Hindi characters at normal speed. Cut every sentence that does not move the Short forward.
- Keep it quick. Shorts sound right with short, quick lines and no slow build-up. Check that numbers are still clear.
- One idea, three beats. Problem, three quick points, payoff. Each point gets its own sentence and its own cut.
- End on an action, not a goodbye. "Save कर लो", "Follow कीजिए" or the answer to the hook. A Short that loops cleanly gets watched twice.

Does your salary run out as soon as it arrives every month? Try this one rule. Fifty, thirty, twenty. As soon as the salary comes: fifty percent for needs, thirty for wants, and twenty straight into savings. Before spending, not after. Try it for three months. Follow for more tips like this.
Pacing: Brisk. The hook is the first sentence; "पचास, तीस, बीस।" is its own sentence so it lands as a beat.
Plays the opening sentences live (220-character demo limit). Paste the whole script into the playground in parts, or sign up to generate it in one go.

Phone storage full again and again? Do these three things now. One, go into WhatsApp settings, manage storage and delete big files. Two, back up your photos and remove them from the phone. Three, uninstall apps you haven't opened in a month. If this helped, send it to a friend.
Pacing: Quick and clear. A beat before each "पहला, दूसरा, तीसरा", timed to a cut.

Story Short with a two-second hook
This story is only forty seconds long. An old man sold newspapers outside the station every morning. One day a boy took a paper without paying. The next day again. On the third day the old man stopped him, and gave him a pen along with the paper. He said, if you can read, learn to write too. Years later, a bookshop opened at that same station. Its name was: The First Newspaper.
Pacing: Even for the story, a pause before "सालों बाद", and slower on the last line.
Plays the opening sentences live (220-character demo limit). Paste the whole script into the playground in parts, or sign up to generate it in one go.
Lengths use the rate we measured for Hindi with Priya at normal speed (937 characters a minute); other voices run up to a fifth faster or slower. More scripts by video type are in the Hindi voice-over script library.

Step by step
How to make a YouTube Short with an AI voice in five steps
- 01
Write the hook first
Five or six words, about 30 Hindi characters, that make the viewer stay. Then the three beats and the payoff.
- 02
Check it in two or three parts
Without an account each play takes 220 characters, about 14 seconds of Hindi, in your browser only. Paste the hook and first beat, then the rest, and listen.
- 03
Sign up free to save the audio
After free signup, generate the whole script in the dashboard, which saves it as a WAV file (the API gives MP3), and add it to your Short in CapCut, VN or YouTube's editor.
- 04
Cut the video to the voice
Put the clips on the timeline, cut the footage on every sentence, and add large on-screen captions; many viewers watch muted.
- 05
Upload as a Short
Vertical 9:16, 30 to 60 seconds, a title that repeats the hook, and YouTube's AI label where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers.
Commercial use
Use Hindi AI voice-overs on monetised channels
- Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
- This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
- You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube
Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?
Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).
Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.
Voice cloning
Your own voice, speaking Hindi
Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Hindi, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Hindi script.
Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Hindi, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.
FAQ
Questions creators ask
Yes. Play any script up to 220 characters without an account to hear it. To save the audio, sign up free: you get 10,000 characters and one voice clone, enough for many Shorts, and the dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file.
About 940 Hindi characters at normal speed, from the rate we measured with Priya; about 470 for 30 seconds. A faster voice gives a little less time; a slower one gives more.
Keep it to five or six words, about 30 Hindi characters, and end it with a full stop or question mark so the voice pauses. Name a problem or a payoff, never a greeting.
Yes, and you should: one channel voice across Shorts and long videos helps viewers recognise you. Clone your own voice if you want it to be unique to your channel.
Yes. Audio you generate, on the free tier or with paid credits, can be used on monetised YouTube channels, Shorts, Reels and in ads, with no attribution. YouTube limits mass-produced, repetitive videos, not AI voices, so write your own script and keep your edits original. The monetisation decision is YouTube's.
The audio you generate is yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution and no royalties to Sonex Labs. You are responsible for the script itself: if you read someone else's text, you need their permission.
Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a Hindi script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with Hindi pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking Hindi.
