Why it works here

Sonex for logistics and mobility teams

Built for phone audio

Pāṇini TTS is trained for 8 kHz phone audio. That is the narrowband sound of an ordinary mobile call, not studio audio.

Driver onboarding and compliance

Document chase, verification and shift confirmations handled automatically in the driver's language.

Consignee coordination

Delivery windows confirmed before the vehicle leaves, so fewer attempts fail because nobody was home.

Use cases

Common first use cases

  • →Delivery window confirmation
  • →Driver onboarding and verification
  • →Shift and route notifications
  • →Exception and delay handling
  • →Proof of delivery follow-up

Call scripts to start from: failed delivery (NDR) follow-up script, COD order confirmation script, in Hindi, English and regional languages.

How the calls work

How delivery, failed-delivery and driver calls run

Consignee calls confirm or rescue a delivery. Driver and rider calls cover documents and shifts. Each ends with a status your dispatch or onboarding system can act on.

Delivery window confirmation

Before the vehicle leaves the hub.

  1. 01The agent names the courier or brand, says it is an AI assistant, and gives the delivery day and window.
  2. 02It asks whether someone will be there to receive the parcel, and takes a landmark or alternate contact if the address is vague.
  3. 03If the window does not suit, it offers only slots your route planner allows.

Written back: confirmed, rescheduled, address detail added, or unreachable.

Failed delivery (NDR) follow-up

Within hours of a non-delivery report from the field.

  1. 01The agent says the attempt failed and asks why: not at home, address not found, or refused.
  2. 02It fixes the address or picks a new slot. A refusal gets a reason, so the parcel can return without more attempts.

Written back: reattempt with slot or address, refused with reason, or no contact.

Driver documents and shifts

After sign-up, before a document expires, or ahead of a shift.

  1. 01The agent calls in the driver's language, says which document is missing or due, and sends an upload link through your system.
  2. 02For shifts and routes it confirms the time and place, and passes delays and exceptions to a dispatcher by live transfer.

Written back: document promised by a date, uploaded, shift confirmed or declined, or exception raised.

Rules that apply

Rules for courier, logistics and mobility calls

TRAI has given courier and logistics firms their own number series, and its 2026 amendment covers every call dialled by software, including calls that later reach a person.

Opening lines with the AI disclosure are in the disclosure script library, and calling rules by country sets India beside other markets.

The 1601 series for courier and logistics

TRAI created the 1601 series for service calls from courier, parcel, freight and logistics companies, and operators are to finish moving them by about 8 November 2026. The numbers go directly to the business, not to an aggregator, and may never carry promotional calls, so sales campaigns need 140 numbers (number series guide, number series picker).

Mobility firms without a series

Phase I covers utilities and firms that deliver consignments; passenger mobility firms such as ride-hailing are not named. Their service calls still go out on ordinary numbers, which are not exempt from TRAI's A2P charge of up to ₹0.05 a minute between operators and can be flagged as spam.

The A2P declaration covers every dialler

Every call dialled by software is an A2P call, even when a person joins later. From 27 November 2026, declare A2P calling and every caller number range to your operator, including numbers a platform dials for you, and agree in writing who declares which ranges (TRAI's 2026 rules).

Caller name on screen and personal data

From 1 November 2026, operators must show the caller's name on 4G and later calls, but whether this covers SIP trunks and designated series is unsettled, so ask each operator (CNAP guide). Addresses and driver documents are personal data under the DPDP Act, whose main duties start on 13 May 2027.

Before go-live

What logistics teams prepare before going live

Events and fields

Connect the dispatch, NDR and onboarding events that start each call, and the fields the agent reads: consignee, address, slot, AWB or order number, and pending documents.

1601 numbers in your name

1601 numbers go only to the business itself, and Sonex's shared numbers are not 1601 numbers. Run the agent on telephony from your own operator and include every range in your A2P declaration.

Field-condition tests

Test with drivers and consignees on real mobile calls, outdoors and on basic handsets, in each language you will use. Check addresses, landmarks and AWB numbers by ear.

Hand-over to dispatch

Name the dispatchers who take live transfers for delays and exceptions, and the hours they cover. Outside those hours, the agent offers a callback time.

FAQ

Questions logistics teams ask about AI calls

Rates are on the pricing page, and the cost calculator works out a monthly figure for your call volume.

Yes, within the slots you allow. The agent reads the open slots from your route planner through a tool call, offers them to the consignee and writes the chosen slot back. Anything it cannot settle, such as a damaged parcel or a dispute, goes to a dispatcher by live transfer.

If software dialled it, yes. TRAI refused requests to exclude calls where a person joins later, such as ride-hailing bridges, because operators cannot tell which software-dialled calls have a person on them. From 27 November 2026, declare A2P calling and the number ranges you use to your operator.

From 1 November 2026, mobile operators must show the caller's name on calls over 4G and later networks, taken from the operator's records for that number. Whether this reaches SIP trunks and designated number series is not settled, so ask each operator in writing which name will show on each of your numbers.

Pāṇini TTS is trained for 8 kHz phone audio, the narrowband sound of a mobile call, and Valmiki STT detects the spoken language automatically. Road noise and weak signal still vary, so test with your own drivers on real mobile calls before you rely on it, and give them a way to reach a dispatcher.

Each call is kept as a recording and a transcript. The agent writes the outcome, such as a new slot, a corrected address or a missing document, back to your systems through tool calls or a connector such as n8n, Zapier or Make.
