Tamil AI voice generator

Kavya (female) is a native Tamil platform voice and reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read Tamil, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a Tamil speaker keeps that speaker's accent.

Free Tamil text to speech: what you get

  • Play up to 220 characters of Tamil at a time in the playground above, with no account.
  • Sign up free for 10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card required.
  • After sign-up, get MP3 from the API or download clips from the dashboard.
  • After the free characters, $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Convert Tamil text to audio (MP3)

Sign up free, then send Tamil text to the API with "output_format": "mp3" and save the file, or generate clips in the dashboard and download them. Scripts longer than the playground's 220 characters work the same way.

Tamil text reader

Paste up to 220 characters of Tamil here to hear it read aloud; sign up to read longer text, such as notices, lessons or articles, through the dashboard or the API. For calls, write spoken Tamil ("இன்னைக்கு" rather than "இன்று"); it sounds far more natural read aloud.

About Tamil

How Tamil speech is read

Written Tamil and spoken Tamil differ more than in most languages. A reminder written in formal Tamil sounds stiff when read aloud. The samples on this page use spoken forms, such as "இன்னைக்கு" rather than "இன்று", because that is what a caller expects to hear.

Tamil customer messages also borrow English freely: order, evening, tracking link, SMS. Pāṇini reads those English words with Tamil phonetics and suffixes, as in "evening-க்குள்ள", without breaking into a different voice.

Commercial use

Use Tamil AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Tamil

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Tamil, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Tamil script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Tamil, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

API

Tamil TTS API

One request returns Tamil audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
