Malayalam AI voice generator

Vani, a native Malayalam platform voice, reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read Malayalam, keeping its own accent, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a Malayalam speaker carries that speaker's accent.

Free Malayalam text to speech: what you get

  • Play up to 220 characters of Malayalam at a time in the playground above, with no account.
  • Sign up free for 10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card required.
  • After sign-up, get MP3 from the API or download clips from the dashboard.
  • After the free characters, $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Convert Malayalam text to audio (MP3)

Sign up free, then send Malayalam text to the API with "output_format": "mp3" and save the file, or generate clips in the dashboard and download them. Scripts longer than the playground's 220 characters work the same way.

About Malayalam

How Malayalam speech is read

Malayalam glues words together. "വരുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു" (was coming) is a single word, and a sentence often has only four or five of them, so where a voice pauses and what it stresses decides whether the listener follows. The script adds its own detail: chillu letters such as ൻ, ൽ and ർ mark a consonant with no vowel after it, and the sound ഴ in മഴ (rain) and കോഴിക്കോട് (Kozhikode) has no match in most other Indian languages.

Malayalis also type their language in Roman letters, often called Manglish, on WhatsApp and SMS, and customer messages mix in English words with Malayalam endings, as in ഓർഡറിന്റെ (of the order). Large numbers of Keralites work in the Gulf, so a reminder or an announcement often has to reach families in Kerala and workers abroad alike. Vani, a native Malayalam platform voice, reads every sample on this page.

Commercial use

Use Malayalam AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Malayalam

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Malayalam, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Malayalam script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Malayalam, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

How voice cloning works

API

Malayalam TTS API

One request returns Malayalam audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
