Kannada text to speech: natural AI voices and API

Pāṇini TTS speaks Kannada in its own script with a native Kannada voice, Mitaali, in the spoken register used on calls in Bengaluru and across Karnataka.

Kannada AI voice generator

Mitaali, a native Kannada platform voice, reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read Kannada, keeping its own accent, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a Kannada speaker carries that speaker's accent.

About Kannada

How Kannada speech is read

Written Kannada and spoken Kannada part ways in the verb. A message drafted as "ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ" (I will do it) is said "ಮಾಡ್ತೀನಿ" in conversation, and "ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ" (at home) becomes "ಮನೇಲಿ". Formal forms read aloud on a delivery or support call sound like a news bulletin. The samples on this page are written the spoken way and read by Mitaali, a native Kannada platform voice.

Native Kannada words usually end in a vowel, and English words borrowed into Kannada often pick one up: bus becomes ಬಸ್ಸು. Case endings also attach straight to English nouns, as in ಆರ್ಡರ್‌ನ (of the order). Customer messages in Bengaluru are full of these forms, often called Kanglish, and Pāṇini reads them as one Kannada sentence instead of switching voices at every English word.

Use Kannada AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Kannada

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Kannada, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Kannada script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Kannada, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

API

Kannada TTS API

One request returns Kannada audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
