Voices

This line runs about 7 seconds. Play up to 220 characters at a time in your browser, free, with no account. To keep the audio for your video, sign up free: the dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file and the API returns MP3. Free signup gives 10,000 free text-to-speech characters and one free voice clone that speaks every language, no card required.

Step by step

How to add a voice-over in Instagram, Edits and Facebook

First sign up free and save the voice-over: the dashboard's Download audio saves a WAV file to your phone. Then add it in whichever app you post from. Each app's own Voiceover button records your microphone, so a file goes in another way.

Edits

  1. 01Open a project with your clips and tap Audio.
  2. 02Tap Collections.
  3. 03Tap Import from files and pick the voice-over you saved.
  4. 04Line the clips up with the voice, add text, and export or share the reel.

Edits is Instagram's own editing app. Its Voice button records you over the video, with an optional on-screen script.

Steps from Instagram Help: add or import music and audio in Edits. Menu names can differ by app version.

Instagram

  1. 01Put the voice-over into the video first, in Edits, VN or InShot, and save the video to your phone.
  2. 02In Instagram, create a reel and choose that video from your gallery.
  3. 03Tap Next, then Audio. The voice is part of the video, so Instagram lists it as camera audio; add music under it if you like.
  4. 04If the voice could pass for a real person, switch on Add AI label before you share.

Instagram’s own Voiceover (Edit video, then Voiceover, then Record) is for recording yourself.

Steps from Instagram Help: add your own audio to a reel. Menu names can differ by app version.

Facebook

  1. 01Make the video with the voice in it, as for Instagram.
  2. 02In the Facebook app, create a reel and add that video.
  3. 03To add music under the voice, tap Audio, then Controls, then Add music.
  4. 04On a computer, Meta Business Suite's Create reel also lets you add or change a Facebook reel's audio.

For Pages, captions and dubbed tracks, see AI voice for Facebook Reels.

Reel length

How many characters fit in a Reel

At the rates we measured, a 30-second Reel is about 470 Hindi characters and a full minute about 940. A play on this page takes 220, so a 15-second hook fits in one play in most languages.

Characters of script for each clip length, about, measured on 24 October 2026 at normal speed (1.0)
Language15 s30 s60 s90 s

ArabicNour, 626/min160310630940

Each language was timed with one voice; other voices run up to a fifth faster or slower, so play your script once before you cut the video to it. A play without an account takes 220 characters.

Reel lines in Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Arabic and English

Lunch for the office in five minutes! Soak chickpeas overnight, add onion, tomato and lemon in the morning. Protein and taste. Save it and try it tomorrow.

    Bangla: a winter recipe

    শীতের সকালে গরম গরম ভাপা পিঠা! চালের গুঁড়া, খেজুরের গুড় আর নারকেল, ব্যস। রেসিপিটা সেভ করে রাখুন।

Hot bhapa pitha on a winter morning! Rice flour, date-palm jaggery and coconut, that's it. Save the recipe.

Instagram's own tools

What Instagram already does, and where an external voice fits

Instagram and Facebook have voice tools of their own. They are free and worth using when they fit; this is where they stop.

Instagram text-to-speech

What it doesReads a text box on your reel aloud. Instagram says it is only available in English in selected countries.
When a Sonex voice-over helpsReels in Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Arabic or any of 250+ languages, and a narrator that reads a script that is not on screen.

Meta AI translations

What it doesDubs the voice you recorded in a reel into another language, with optional lip sync, for supported languages that vary by app.
When a Sonex voice-over helpsYou have a script, not a recording, or you want the voice in a language the tool does not offer. Sonex reads what you write, in a platform voice or your cloned voice.

Voiceover in Instagram, Edits or Facebook

What it doesRecords your own voice through the microphone.
When a Sonex voice-over helpsYou would rather not record, need a quiet studio sound on every Reel, or post in a language you do not speak well.

  • Warm explainer

Recipes, home tips and "save this for later" Reels, where the voice should sound like a friend.

    • Priya · Female · Hindi, Indian · catalogue tone: Warm, Expressive
    • Nupur · Female · Bengali, Indian · catalogue tone: Warm, Expressive

    बारिश में कपड़ों से बदबू आती है? धोते वक़्त आधा कप सिरका डाल दो। बस इतना ही।

Clothes smell musty in the rains? Add half a cup of vinegar when you wash them. That's all.

    उस स्टेशन पर ट्रेन रोज़ दो मिनट रुकती थी। और हर दिन, ठीक दो मिनट, एक खिड़की पर कोई हाथ हिलाता था।

The train stopped at that station for two minutes every day. And every day, for exactly two minutes, someone waved from one window.

Write it like this: Plain English, contractions, and numbers written as you want them said.

    • Diya · Female · English, Indian · catalogue tone: Conversational, Expressive
    • Kabir · Male · English, Indian · catalogue tone: Relaxed, Professional

Here's the cheapest way to see three cities in one week. Book the night trains, skip two hotel nights, and wake up somewhere new.

There are no style presets: the style comes from the voice you pick and from how you write the script. Short sentences and full stops slow a read down; question marks lift it; exclamation marks add energy.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Hindi

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Hindi, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Hindi script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Hindi, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

How voice cloning works

FAQ

Questions creators ask

Yes. Meta restricts unoriginal or reposted content, not AI voices. Its Partner Monetization Policies say content that is unoriginal or reproduced without meaningful enhancements cannot be monetised, and its Original Content Guidelines count a voice-over that only describes what happens in someone else's video as a minor change. So write your own script that adds information, a story or an opinion, over footage you made or have the rights to. Facebook's content monetisation is invite-only, and the decision is Meta's.

No. Meta AI translations takes a reel where you already speak and dubs your voice into another supported language, with optional lip sync. Sonex starts from a script you write and reads it in a platform voice or in your own cloned voice, in any of 250+ languages, and gives you an audio file to use on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or anywhere else.

Yes, for text boxes on a reel. Instagram's help page says it is only available in English in selected countries. Use it for an English caption read-out; use a Sonex voice for Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Arabic and other languages, or when you want the same voice on every platform.

Meta asks you to label content with realistic-sounding audio that was digitally generated, and its own example is a reel narrated with a realistic AI-generated voice-over. Switch on Add AI label when you share the reel. Meta notes there may be penalties for not labelling content that needs it.

The one that fits your language and your format, used on every Reel so viewers learn it. Play the same line in two or three voices on this page and keep the one that sounds right. If you want a voice nobody else has, clone your own.

At the rates we measured at normal speed, 30 seconds is about 470 Hindi, 440 Bangla, 310 Arabic or 460 English characters. Write the hook to fit in the first two or three seconds, about 30 to 45 characters.

Yes, after free signup. The playground on this page plays audio in your browser only. The dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file with Download audio, which Edits, VN and InShot all accept, and the API returns MP3 when you set "output_format": "mp3".

Yes. Audio you generate, on the free tier or with paid credits, can be used on monetised YouTube channels, Shorts, Reels and in ads, with no attribution. YouTube limits mass-produced, repetitive videos, not AI voices, so write your own script and keep your edits original. The monetisation decision is YouTube's.

The audio you generate is yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution and no royalties to Sonex Labs. You are responsible for the script itself: if you read someone else's text, you need their permission.

Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a Hindi script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with Hindi pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking Hindi.
