German AI voice generator

Marlene, a native German platform voice, reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read German, keeping its own accent, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a German speaker carries that speaker's accent.

Free German text to speech: what you get

  • Play up to 220 characters of German at a time in the playground above, with no account.
  • Sign up free for 10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card required.
  • After sign-up, get MP3 from the API or download clips from the dashboard.
  • After the free characters, $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Convert German text to audio (MP3)

Sign up free, then send German text to the API with "output_format": "mp3" and save the file, or generate clips in the dashboard and download them. Scripts longer than the playground's 220 characters work the same way.

About German

How German speech is read

Every German call script starts with a decision: Sie or du. Banks, insurers, doctors and public services say Sie; many apps, retailers and start-ups now say du, and switching halfway through sounds careless. German also packs meaning into compound words ("Terminbestätigung", "Kundennummer") whose stress falls on the first part, and into time expressions that confuse outsiders: "halb drei" means 2:30, not 3:30. The samples on this page use Sie and are read by Marlene, a native German platform voice.

German is not one accent. Austrians say "Jänner" for January and "Grüß Gott" for hello; Swiss Standard German writes ss instead of ß, and Swiss callers speak dialect among themselves. A voice that sounds right in Hamburg may sound foreign in Vienna or Zurich. Pāṇini reads Austrian and Swiss spellings as written, and you can clone a local speaker from 10 seconds so DACH customers hear a familiar voice.

Use cases

German voice use cases

Appointment reminders for practices

Doctors, dentists and physiotherapists in Germany and Austria confirm appointments and cut no-shows.

Insurance and energy customer service

Insurers and utility providers answer routine calls about contracts, meter readings and payments in a polite Sie register.

Delivery and e-commerce in the DACH region

Commercial use

Use German AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

The full wording is in our terms of service.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking German

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks German, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a German script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking German, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

How voice cloning works

API

German TTS API

One request returns German audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).

Yes. Audio you generate, on the free tier or with paid credits, can be used on monetised YouTube channels, Shorts, Reels and in ads, with no attribution. YouTube limits mass-produced, repetitive videos, not AI voices, so write your own script and keep your edits original. The monetisation decision is YouTube's.

The audio you generate is yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution and no royalties to Sonex Labs. You are responsible for the script itself: if you read someone else's text, you need their permission.

Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a German script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with German pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking German.
