French AI voice generator

Céleste, a native French platform voice, reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read French, keeping its own accent, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a French speaker carries that speaker's accent.

Free French text to speech: what you get

  • Play up to 220 characters of French at a time in the playground above, with no account.
  • Sign up free for 10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card required.
  • After sign-up, get MP3 from the API or download clips from the dashboard.
  • After the free characters, $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Convert French text to audio (MP3)

Sign up free, then send French text to the API with "output_format": "mp3" and save the file, or generate clips in the dashboard and download them. Scripts longer than the playground's 220 characters work the same way.

About French

How French speech is read

French pronunciation lives between the words. Liaison links a silent final consonant to the next vowel ("les_enfants", "vous_avez"), elision drops vowels ("l'adresse", "j'ai"), and many written endings are never said at all. A call script also has to choose vous or tu: a bank, clinic or utility almost always says vous, while some brands aimed at young customers use tu. The samples on this page use vous and are read by Céleste, a native French platform voice.

Most French speakers do not live in France. Quebec has its own accent and vocabulary ("magasiner", "courriel"), Belgium and Switzerland say septante and nonante instead of soixante-dix and quatre-vingt-dix, and in Abidjan, Dakar, Casablanca or Algiers, French on the phone is often mixed with Wolof, Dioula or Darija. Pāṇini reads code-mixed text in one voice, and the same voice can switch to Arabic or English for the next customer.

Use cases

French voice use cases

Telecom and banking in West and North Africa

Operators and banks in Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and Morocco reach customers in French, with the option of the same voice in Arabic or English.

Appointment reminders in France and Belgium

Clinics, dentists and public services confirm appointments to cut no-shows, using vous and the 24-hour clock.

Customer service in Quebec

Retailers and service companies answer Quebec customers in French, as many expect, and switch to English when a caller does.

Commercial use

Use French AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

The full wording is in our terms of service.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking French

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks French, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a French script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking French, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

How voice cloning works

API

French TTS API

One request returns French audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).

Yes, after free sign-up. The playground on this page plays audio in your browser only, up to 220 characters at a time, so you can check the voice first. Sign up free (10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card): the dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file with Download audio, and the API returns MP3 when you set "output_format": "mp3".

Yes, it reads standard French spelling with liaison and elision. Check names and brand terms in the audio before sending at scale.

It reads the vocabulary of any variety you write. Céleste, a native French voice, reads these samples; for a Quebec or West African accent, clone a local speaker from a 10-second sample.

Yes. Any Sonex Labs voice can speak any supported language, which suits brands serving the Maghreb in both.

Yes. Audio you generate, on the free tier or with paid credits, can be used on monetised YouTube channels, Shorts, Reels and in ads, with no attribution. YouTube limits mass-produced, repetitive videos, not AI voices, so write your own script and keep your edits original. The monetisation decision is YouTube's.

The audio you generate is yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution and no royalties to Sonex Labs. You are responsible for the script itself: if you read someone else's text, you need their permission.

Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a French script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with French pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking French.
