These clips are Diya, a Sonex platform voice recorded in Indian English, not a customer clone. Each one says “Thanks for watching. If this video helped, send it to someone who needs it.” Listen for the accent: it stays Diya’s in every language. A clone of your voice works the same way and keeps your accent.

A Sonex platform voice, not a customer clone. The lines were typed, not recorded: the same voice read each script as text. Why the accent carries over.

How a Urdu voice clone works
Type your script in Urdu letters and the clone reads it in your voice. Spoken Urdu and Hindi are close, and many creators post for both audiences. One clone covers both, because each line is read in the language of the text you type.
The accent comes from the sample. A clone recorded in Karachi sounds like its speaker from Karachi, and one recorded in Lucknow or Hyderabad sounds like its speaker too, whatever language it reads.
Step by step
How to clone your voice
These are the steps in the Sonex dashboard today. It takes a few minutes, most of it recording.
- 1
Create a free account
Sign up free. No card is needed, and the account comes with one voice clone and 10,000 text-to-speech characters to use with it.
- 2
Record about 10 seconds
Use your phone's voice recorder or any microphone. Talk naturally for 10 to 30 seconds in a quiet room, with no music behind you. Any language works.
- 3
Add the voice
In the dashboard, open Voices and choose Add voice. Give the voice a name and choose your recording (WAV, MP3, OGG or M4A). Typing what you said into the Transcript box is optional, and it improves the clone.
- 4
Confirm consent
Tick the box to confirm the recording is your own voice, or that the speaker has given you explicit permission, then choose Agree and create voice.
- 5
Use it straight away
The clone appears in My voices as soon as it is created. Choose it under Models, Text-to-Speech (or for a voice agent), type a Urdu script and play it.
- Create your free account
What you need
A quiet room
Background noise, music and echo end up in the clone. A small room with soft furnishings is better than a large empty one.
About 10 seconds of you
10 seconds is enough; the dashboard takes 10 to 30. One speaker only, talking the way you talk on camera.
A phone is fine
Any phone's voice recorder works. Hold it a hand's width from your mouth and keep it still.
What you said, typed out
Optional. The Transcript box takes the words in your sample and gives a better clone.
Better results
Writing Urdu scripts for your clone
- Urdu letters for Urdu. Write Urdu in Urdu script. Roman Urdu has no fixed spelling, so the reading can vary from line to line.
- English words can stay English. Words your viewers say in English, such as video, link or subscribe, can stay in Roman letters inside an Urdu sentence. Play the line once to check it.
- Give a sher room to breathe. For a sher or a formal line, add a comma where a reciter would pause, and play it before you publish.
Consent and misuse
Clone your own voice, or one you have permission to use
- Your voice, or with consent. Clone a voice only if it is yours or its owner has given you explicit permission. If you are cloning a client or a co-host, get that permission in writing.
- No public figures. Do not clone a celebrity, politician or other public figure, even from a recording you found online. Our terms do not allow it, and Indian courts have restrained cloned voices of actors and singers (the law on voice cloning in India).
- No deception. Do not use a clone to deceive, defraud or impersonate anyone. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, label it the way the platform asks.
- You answer for what it says. The account that creates a clone is responsible for everything produced with it.
If you think a voice has been cloned on Sonex without consent, or a Sonex voice is being used to deceive, email support@sonexlabs.com with what you heard and where. The full rules are in our terms of service.

FAQ
Urdu voice cloning questions
Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a Urdu script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with Urdu pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking Urdu.
Yes. Type the Urdu lines in Urdu script and the Hindi lines in Devanagari, and the same clone reads both in your voice. Your accent stays the same in each, as it would if you spoke both yourself.
Yes. Every free account includes one voice clone and 10,000 free text-to-speech characters, with no card required. Making the clone costs nothing; reading a script with it uses characters the same way any voice does. To try a different recording, delete the clone in My voices and add a new one.
About 10 seconds. The dashboard asks for a clear recording of 10 to 30 seconds in WAV, MP3, OGG or M4A. Keep it to one speaker, with no music and as little background noise as you can.
Only with that person's consent. Before a clone is created, the dashboard asks you to confirm the recording is your own voice or that the speaker has given you explicit permission, and our terms say the same. You are responsible for everything the clone says, in Urdu or any other language.
No. Our terms do not allow cloning or imitating the voice of a public figure or celebrity, and courts in India have restrained cloned voices of well-known actors and singers. Our article on the law on voice cloning in India explains the cases.
Yes. The dashboard works in a phone browser. Record the sample with your phone's voice recorder, then choose the file under Voices, Add voice. On an iPhone, save the Voice Memos recording to Files first so the file picker can see it.
