Odia AI voice generator

Debashish, a native Odia platform voice, reads the playground above. Any Sonex Labs voice can also read Odia, keeping its own accent, and a voice cloned from a 10-second recording of a Odia speaker carries that speaker's accent.

About Odia

How Odia speech is read

Odia is one of India's classical languages, with its own rounded script, yet few speech products cover it well. Pāṇini TTS has a dedicated Odia platform voice, Debashish, used for every sample on this page.

Odia government, banking and healthcare services reach many people who are more comfortable in Odia than in Hindi or English. A reminder in Odia is more likely to be understood the first time, which matters on a phone call where the listener cannot reread the message.

Script
Odia
Speakers
About 37.5 million first-language speakers (2011 Census of India, mother tongue)
Where it is spoken
Odisha, and parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh
Price
$0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Odia and Bengali

How Odia differs from Bengali

A voice made for Bengali or Hindi tends to drop Odia's final vowels and flatten its sounds. The playground on this page uses Debashish, a native Odia voice.

Script
Odia has its own rounded script; Bengali and Assamese share the Eastern Nagari script.
Final vowels
Odia says the vowel at the end of most words, so ଘର (house) is "ghara", where Bengali ঘর is "ghor".
A sound Bengali lacks
Odia has a retroflex ଳ (ḷ), as in ସକାଳ (morning), which Bengali does not use.
Grammar and words
Odia says ଅଛି for "is", ଦେବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ for "will have to pay" and ଆପଣଙ୍କ for the polite "your", where Bengali says আছে, দিতে হবে and আপনার.

Use cases

Odia voice use cases

Public services and utilities

Bill, scheme and appointment reminders in the state language.

Banking and insurance

EMI, premium and KYC calls for customers across Odisha.

Education

Odia narration for learning content and audiobooks.

For creators

Voice over for YouTube, Shorts and Reels in Odia

Odia YouTube runs on food, Puri travel, Rath Yatra, comedy and news explainers, and few AI voices read the Odia script well. Debashish is a native Odia voice who says the final vowels that a Bengali or Hindi voice drops. Use him as an Odia AI voice generator, free to try above, then sign up to keep the audio. Odia voice over AI works best when the script is in the Odia script with numbers written as words, and the Odia text to speech MP3 is yours to download.

10,000 free text-to-speech characters and one free voice clone that speaks every language, no card required. That is roughly ten to twelve minutes of narration, an estimate based on the rates we measured for other Indian languages (Odia itself has not been timed). The player above plays in your browser only, so you can check the voice with no account. To save the audio, sign up free: the dashboard saves each clip as a WAV file, and the API returns MP3 when you set "output_format": "mp3". More for video makers on the creators page.

Commercial use

Use Odia AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Odia

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Odia, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Odia script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Odia, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

How voice cloning works

API

Odia TTS API

One request returns Odia audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
