Tulu AI voice generator

There is no native Tulu platform voice yet, so the playground uses Mitaali, a voice recorded in another language: the Tulu text is read correctly, in that voice's accent. For a local accent, clone a native Tulu speaker from a 10-second recording and use that voice for every clip.

Free Tulu text to speech: what you get

  • Play up to 220 characters of Tulu at a time in the playground above, with no account.
  • Sign up free for 10,000 characters and one voice clone, no card required.
  • After sign-up, get MP3 from the API or download clips from the dashboard.
  • After the free characters, $0.03125 per 1,000 characters, the same rate for every language.

Convert Tulu text to audio (MP3)

Sign up free, then send Tulu text to the API with "output_format": "mp3" and save the file, or generate clips in the dashboard and download them. Scripts longer than the playground's 220 characters work the same way.

About Tulu

How Tulu speech is read

Tulu is a Dravidian language of its own, not a dialect of Kannada, even though most people now write it in Kannada script. A Kannada listener can read the letters but will not follow the words: ಬಲೆ ("come") is how Tulu speakers welcome you in, ಎಂಚ ಉಲ್ಲರ್? asks "how are you?", ಇಜ್ಜಿ means "there isn't" or "no", and ಪೊರ್ಲು means "beautiful". Tulu Nadu has its own traditions too, from Yakshagana and Bhuta Kola to Kambala, and many families keep Tulu at home while using Kannada or English at work.

There is no dedicated Tulu platform voice yet. The samples on this page are read by Mitaali, a Kannada voice, from Tulu text in Kannada script, which keeps the coastal Karnataka sounds close. For the most local sound, clone a voice from a 10-second recording of a Tulu speaker; the clone then reads Tulu in that speaker's own accent, which is what a caller in Udupi or Puttur expects to hear.

Use Tulu AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Tulu

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Tulu, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Tulu script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Tulu, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

API

Tulu TTS API

One request returns Tulu audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
