About Sylheti
Sylheti is written in Bangla script today, but it does not sound like standard Bengali. Many p sounds become f and aspirated sounds soften, so ভালো becomes বালা ("good") and পানি becomes ফানি ("water"). The words change too: কিলা আছইন? asks "how are you?", কিতা means "what", and মাতো means "speak". A standard Bengali voice reading Sylheti text gets these wrong. Pāṇini TTS has a dedicated Sylheti platform voice, Piyali, who reads every sample on this page.
Sylheti reaches well beyond Sylhet. It is the home language of the Barak Valley in Assam, and most of the UK's Bangladeshi community has roots in Sylhet, from east London to Birmingham. Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).
Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.
Voice cloning
Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Sylheti, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Sylheti script.
Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Sylheti, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

One request returns Sylheti audio as MP3. The language is detected from the text, so no language setting is needed. Pāṇini TTS starts streaming audio in under 200 ms (time to first byte).
