How an audio golpo should sound

Writing a Bangla story for the ear

An audio golpo is heard, often with the screen off, so everything has to come through the voice: who is speaking, where we are, when time passes. The voice follows your punctuation and reads the words exactly as you spell them.

About the accent

Both Bengali voices, Nupur and Arindam, are labelled Indian Bengali in our catalogue; there is no Bangladesh-accent voice yet. Your spelling and word choice carry through, but the accent is the voice's own. For a Bangladeshi accent, clone your own voice: the accent of the person in the sample carries over.

  • Spell it for your audience. The voice reads what you write. If your listeners are in Bangladesh, write পানি, গোসল and দাওয়াত; for West Bengal, জল, স্নান and নেমন্তন্ন. The words come out as written.
  • Slow it down with full stops. Long stories sound relaxed in short sentences with a full stop after each. Ghost stories want even shorter lines, so every pause feels longer.
  • Mark every change of speaker. Start each line of dialogue with who says it: "মা বললেন,". Listeners cannot see quotation marks.
  • Generate chapter by chapter. A forty-minute story is dozens of clips. Work in scenes, name the files in order, and keep one voice for the narrator throughout.
  • Mark time passing. "তিন দিন পর।" as its own sentence gives a clear pause and tells the listener the scene has changed.

Three Bangla story openings to try

A family story for a rainy day, a ghost story and a children's story. All original; change names and places to make them your own.

    Family story: a rainy-day guest

On rainy days I really miss my mother. When we were small, on days like this she cooked khichuri, and we brothers and sisters sat by the window watching the rain. Today's story is about one such rainy day, the day a stranger came to our house.

Pacing: Warm and unhurried. A small pause after "খিচুড়ি রাঁধতেন", and slower on the last clause.

Ghost story: the old zamindar house

It was nearly one at night. At the far end of the village the old zamindar house stood in the dark. People say someone still lives there. No one has seen them, but many have heard it: deep in the night, the sound of ankle bells drifting from the upstairs room. Then suddenly, silence.

Pacing: Low and even. Let "তারপর হঠাৎ," hang for a moment before "সব চুপ".

Children's story: the squirrel who saved

In a forest lived a tiny squirrel. While everyone was busy playing, it collected nuts one by one. Its friends laughed. But do you know what happened the day it rained for seven days straight? Come, let's hear.

Pacing: Bright. A lift on the question, and a short pause before "চলো, শুনি".

Lengths use the rate we measured for Bengali with Nupur at normal speed (880 characters a minute); other voices run up to a fifth faster or slower. More scripts by video type are in the Hindi voice-over script library.

Step by step

How to make a Bangla audio story video in five steps

  1. 01

    Write the story in parts

Split the story into scenes of a few sentences, and spell it the way your audience speaks, Bangladeshi or West Bengal Bangla.

  2. 02

Paste a scene and pick a voice

Paste the scene into the playground and play it in Nupur and Arindam. Without an account each play takes up to 220 characters, about 15 seconds, and plays in your browser only.

  3. 03

Sign up free to save the audio

Listen for names and places. Then sign up free and generate each scene in the dashboard, which saves it as a WAV file (the API gives MP3), and add the files in your editor.

  4. 04

Join the clips over a still image

Most audio golpo videos use one illustration or a slow slideshow. Put the clips in order, add soft background music, and leave a pause between scenes.

  5. 05

    Publish with chapters

Add chapter timestamps for each part of the story in the description, and use YouTube's AI label where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers.

Commercial use

Use Bengali AI voice-overs on monetised channels

  • Use the audio in YouTube videos, Shorts, Instagram Reels, podcasts and ads, including on monetised channels.
  • This applies to the free tier and to paid credits. No attribution to Sonex Labs is needed.
  • You are responsible for your script, and for disclosing realistic synthetic content where a platform asks you to.

The full wording is in our terms of service.

YouTube

Can a channel with an AI voice be monetised?

Yes, AI voices are allowed. What YouTube limits is mass-produced, repetitive content: videos made from a template with little original work. Its July 2025 update renamed that rule from “repetitious” to “inauthentic” content (YouTube’s monetisation policies).

Write your own script, add your own research or editing, and keep one consistent voice for the channel. Where a realistic AI voice could mislead viewers, use YouTube’s altered or synthetic content label. The monetisation decision is always YouTube’s.

Voice cloning

Your own voice, speaking Bengali

Clone your voice from a 10-second recording. Your clone speaks Bengali, and every other language Pāṇini supports, in your own voice. The language comes from the text you type, so a clone recorded in English or Hindi can read a Bengali script.

Your accent comes with it: a clone sounds like you speaking Bengali, not like a different native speaker. Every free account includes one voice clone. Clone only your own voice, or a voice whose owner has agreed.

FAQ

Questions creators ask

Not yet. Both Bengali voices, Nupur and Arindam, are labelled Indian Bengali. Bangladeshi words and spellings are read as you write them, but the accent stays the voice's own. For a Bangladeshi accent, clone your own voice from a 10-second sample.

Without an account you can play 220 characters at a time, about 15 seconds of Bengali, to try the voices. A free account adds 10,000 characters, about 11 minutes of Bengali at the rate we measured with Nupur, saved as audio files you can edit.

Only with the rights holder's permission. Many classic stories are still under copyright, and reading another author's text is reused content on YouTube. Write your own golpo, or retell an old folk tale in your own words.

Yes. Audio you generate, on the free tier or with paid credits, can be used on monetised YouTube channels, Shorts, Reels and in ads, with no attribution. YouTube limits mass-produced, repetitive videos, not AI voices, so write your own script and keep your edits original. The monetisation decision is YouTube's.

The audio you generate is yours to use, including commercially, with no attribution and no royalties to Sonex Labs. You are responsible for the script itself: if you read someone else's text, you need their permission.

Yes. A Sonex voice clone is not tied to the language it was recorded in. Type a Bengali script and your clone reads it in your own voice, with Bengali pronunciation. Your natural accent carries over, so it sounds like you speaking Bengali.
